Shelf Life

The shelf life of AdBlue® depends on storage conditions, ideally out of direct sunlight and in a cool place. The following are recommended in ISO22241:

Constant ambient storage temperature (ºC) Minimum shelf life (months)
≤ 10 36
≤ 25 18
≤ 30 12
≤ 35 6

Storage

AdBlue® is mildly corrosive and should not be stored or dispensed using equipment made of mild steel, brass, copper, or aluminium, as these metals can contaminate the catalyst and cause irreversible damage.

The freezing point of AdBlue® is -11.5 ºC. Freezing does not affect its quality, and frozen AdBlue® can be safely used once thawed.

Handling

AdBlue® is a colourless, non-flammable liquid with either no smell or a faint ammonia odour. It is not classified as hazardous for road transport or storage.

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and product specifications for Greenox® are available on the official website.

Greenox® dispensing equipment is designed to minimise operator contact and preserve product quality. Greenox® IBC dispensing systems with Micromatic couplings meet the British Standard BS6356 Part 9 for closed transfer.

Handling and storage should follow industry best practices with environmental safety in mind, especially regarding the location of drains and groundwater sources. For guidance on storage and spill management, refer to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) or Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) guidelines.

Spillages may cause slip hazards and should be cleaned immediately using thorough rinsing or an appropriate spill kit.
